Business Carbon Footprint Calculator FAQs

  • Yes. There’s no fee for using the calculator or getting a summary of your footprint. Fees only apply if you choose to offset or apply for certification. See the options, criteria and costs.

  • Twelve months of data, for a calendar year or your financial year. The form asks about fuel, company vehicles, electricity, freight, flights, accommodation, non-company vehicles, business waste and any additional sources. The data verification sheet helps you collect and add it up before you start.

  • About 30 minutes if you have your data to hand. You can save your progress and finish later.

  • The Business Lite certification is for small, simple businesses with a footprint under 50 tCO₂e. If yours is larger or more complex, request a certification quote, or contact the Ekos team or email ekos@ekos.co.nz and we’ll talk you through the standard process.

  • Yes. Since 1 April 2026, we’ve donated $1 from every carbon offset to Upstream to help fund youth mental health counselling. You can read more about the scheme and how much we’ve given so far in our news article.
